When it comes to Netball court layout, the standard dimensions are 30.5 meters in length and 15.25 meters in width. But there are also lines, circles, and court positions to know.

Netball Court Layout

According to the guidelines of Netball sport, Standard netball court dimensions measure 30.5 meters in length and 15.25 meters in width. That being said, this large rectangular court is divided into three sections. The said lines that divide the court into three parts are called Transverse lines.

Each of these divided parts is equally 10.167 meters wide. Each section serves a different purpose and is visible through court markings. The longer sides are referred to as sidelines, while the shorter sides are known as goal lines. The middle part is called the center third, and the other two side parts are called goal thirds. Like a basketball court, Netball has a circle in the center with a diameter of 0.9m. At each end of the court, there is a goal circle comprising a semi-circle with a radius of 4.9 meters. The middle of each goal circle matches the middle point of the goal line. 

Netball Court Markings

All the lines on the court are important and are usually 50mm wide. The majority of netball courts have markings painted in white. Each court marking should have neat lines for playing correctly and staying safe.

You must be familiar with Run-off zones that are 3.05 meters wide. There are special areas on the sides and ends of the court where there are no obstacles. Netball Goal Posts

Height and placement 

Netball goalposts are regular vertical goalposts placed at the midpoint of each goal line. They stand tall at a height of 3.05 meters (10 feet) above the ground. The poles are around 60mm to 100mm (2.5 to 4 inches) thick. And they are firmly put in the ground so they don’t wobble when players score a goal. 

Net and Ring

The netball goalposts are the same as basketball ones but with smaller diameters. The hoop or ring is about 38cm wide inside or has 15 inches internal diameter. It’s attached to a horizontal metal bar that projects from the front edge of the post. The net is attached to this circle, and it’s open at the top and bottom. This helps when scoring and getting the ball easily.

Outdoor Netball Court Size

Outdoor netball courts are the same size as indoor courts, but they have a slight slant of 1% in all directions or a diagonal slant of 1% in one direction. The reason for the slanted surnames is that it helps rainwater to flow away. Indoor courts, on the other hand, are always flat with no slopes.
